It is a disturbing thought that many of today’s youngsters will grow up to believe that the only form of reading is obtained from staring at a computer screen. And develop without having either the skill or desire to become engrossed in the very enjoyable experience of reading a good novel, or an excellent piece of literature.
It is the responsibility of any caring parent to spend time with a young child and teach the rudiments of words and reading before the child enters school. The child will be far better equipped to cope with reading if he or she has received parental instruction and is able to handle the following prior to entering school –
